The ESP32 should just be the WiFi (or Bluetooth) interface for the P2, just as the FTDI chips (or other simple USB interface options) are to USB. Of course, there could be access for more-experienced developers, with specific needs that require ESP32 firmware changes or alternate modes of use (sockets, UDP, etc...).
